About the SR20DET
Since the SR20DET is a Japanese engine it has
problems running off of the stock computer in the G20. There is several
options to correcting this. You can buy a APEXi SAFC-II, Greddy E-manage, Jim
Wolf Tech. reprogrammed ECU, or a stand alone fuel management system. The
APEXi and Greddy systems require you to tune them to get the right air/fuel
ratio, the JWT ECU is plug and play and the stand alone is super expensive. I
chose the APEXi for the price, long term tuning and I could get it soon. It
runs great and am very pleased with how it turned out. When you have a turbo
car you can control the amount of pressure the turbo produces with a boost
controller. There are a lot of them out there but I got the APEXi AVC-R at a
good price and it allows very fine tuning. I also bought a different larger
intercooler that is mounted in front from Hot Shot with their piping kit and
blow-off valve, for turbo back pressure (makes that phsssssst sound). To help
the turbo I also bought a 3 inch down pipe from JGY customs and get that power
to the ground I had a ACT heavy duty clutch installed. The stock engine
produces 215 hp, with all my mods and the APEXi computers tuned I produced
232.7 WHP and 244.2 ft/lbs of torque on a DynoJet.
