This site is dedicated to Infiniti G20s.
This Web site features my own car and a few other G20s
and cool cars that deserve to be here...please enjoy!
My Car
My car is a 1993.5 Infiniti G20. She is black with beige
leather, sunroof, and power everything. She has about 120,000 miles on the
car and much less on the engine.
The old engine.
My car came stock with a SR20DE in-line 4 that produced
140hp to the crank. I love the SR engines, but in a G20 sometimes it just
doesn't feel like enough power at all. So here is the story of what happened
to the old engine. I was driving home in the summer of 2003 at 2:30am from
my friends apartment when I heard something go under the car and the car I
had no more power. A few seconds after that the whole engine filled with
smoke, including the passenger cabin! So I pull over and pop the hood and
there is flames coming 2 feet out of the hood, so I try to put them out to
no avail. I grabbed my cell phone and called the fire department and ran the
hell away! Well about 10 minutes later they show up and of course the fire
is out and I look like a huge dumbass! I hitch a ride witch wasn't easy, and
get my car towed thanks AAA, everyone should have it). To make a longer
story short, insurance wouldn't cover it at all and I got stuck with the
bill. The bill which was quoted at a high price for the same engine. That's
when the gears started turning...I could import a SR20DET(the Japanese turbo
version) for close to that price!!!
The new engine
I ordered the engine after a battle with insurance from
JGYcustoms.com. The engine was in a Bluebird in Japan, which is the older
Nissan Altimas in America. The engine comes stock with a turbo and
intercooler and produces about 200-215 hp. That engine is quite a difference
then the old one. So after some parts ordering I set the date to have a shop
install it, I don't have the time or tools. So I called Paragon Tuning and
they said they could put it in in under 2 weeks. So I was happy with that,
but snag after snag and them taking their sweet ass time it got finished
just under 2 months!!!!!!! It was all worth it though because after I drove
it I fell in love with it all over again!!! Check out the about page for the
engine specs!!
